Pro trial was pretty good

I checked out the Cursor Pro free trial last week. It was super easy to get started, just downloaded it and everything pretty much worked. The AI Chat helped me debug some stuff way faster than I expected. Definitely thinking about upgrading after my trial runs out.

Annual Pro subscription review

I've been using Cursor Pro for a few months now after switching from the Hobby plan. The upgrade process was straightforward through the website, and I opted for annual billing which saved me a bit. Delivery is instant, obviously, since it's software. I really appreciate the improved AI models, especially the Claude 3.5 Sonnet integration; it makes a noticeable difference for more complex code generation tasks. The Tab Autocomplete is also much more responsive than what I had with other tools. I did have a question about how to use the Composer with a specific framework, and their support documentation was decent, but a quick search on their forum cleared it up. Overall, it's a solid tool that consistently performs.

Always reliable for my projects

I've been a Cursor user since it was in early beta, mostly on the Pro tier. I initially used it for a personal project, and now I'm using it for work. The consistency is great; I've never had any major issues with performance or the AI integrations. I recently renewed my annual subscription and the process was exactly as smooth as last year. The multi-file edits feature has become essential for my workflow, and it always works as expected. I've tried other AI editors, but I keep coming back to Cursor because it just feels more intuitive and reliable for my Python and JavaScript development.

Good for quick coding tasks

I used the Cursor Hobby plan for a small project. The free tier was enough for what I needed. AI Code Editor and Tab Autocomplete worked fine. It helped me finish my code faster.

thinking about getting Cursor for my dev team. is it safe to use with proprietary company code, or should I be worried about data leaking?

O Olivia Campbell 1 month ago
They have specific modes and features for enterprise use, like 'Privacy Mode' and 'Local Mode' which are supposed to keep your code secure. I'd read up on those features and their TOS for businesses.

My company uses it, and we haven't had any issues. They emphasize security, especially for business plans. I think they don't use your code for training their general models unless you opt-in or something like that.

thinking about switching from VS Code. is Cursor actually better for everyday coding, or is it mostly just the AI stuff that's different?

D Daniel R. 1 month ago
It's a fork of VS Code, so the basic editor experience is super familiar. The AI is the main draw, but it integrates really well. I find myself using it more than just for the AI prompts.

Depends on your workflow. If you use a lot of AI assistance, it's probably better. If you barely touch AI tools, then maybe not dramatically different, but still a solid editor.

does Cursor work with GPT-4o? or is it just older models?

A Ashley Martinez 3 days ago
They've got GPT-4o integration, and Claude 3.5 Sonnet too. They generally stay pretty up-to-date with the latest AI models.

S Susan Moore 2 days ago
Yeah, they support GPT-4o. It's one of the options for their AI features, along with others. Super useful.

hey, was wondering about the student discount for Cursor. is that still a thing, or just for like, new users?

K Katie Taylor 3 weeks ago
Yeah it is! I just signed up with my .edu email last semester and got a discount on the Pro plan. Pretty sweet deal.

I think they do, but you probably need to apply through their site with your student info. Check the 'Education' or 'Student' section, if they have one.

what's the main difference between Cursor Hobby and Pro? is it just more AI credits?

T Tim 4 weeks ago
It's more than just credits. Pro usually unlocks more advanced AI features, like possibly better models, more requests, and some other power-user stuff. Hobby is more for casual use.

R Rachel R. 3 weeks ago
Yeah, more credits and often access to better AI models or more features that are limited in the Hobby plan. Check their comparison chart on the pricing page for a detailed breakdown.

i'm using the free Hobby plan right now and just hit my fast request limit. what happens next? do I just get slow responses, or can't use AI at all?

D Deborah W. 4 weeks ago
You'll just get slower responses or might have to wait a bit. It doesn't cut you off completely, just throttles the 'fast' ones. You can always upgrade to Pro for more.
6
J Justin 3 weeks ago
Yeah, basically just slower AI. You can still use it, but it takes longer. Annoying, but better than a hard stop.

does Cursor offer refunds if I try the Pro version and decide it's not for me? or am I just stuck with it for the month/year?

J Jacob Allen 1 week ago
I haven't personally tried to get a refund, but I think their policy is pretty standard for software. Might depend on how long you've had it.

S Susan Garcia 1 week ago
I'd check their terms. Most subscriptions don't do partial refunds for a month you've already used, but if you paid annually, sometimes they'll prorate it if you cancel early. Worth looking into.
